I hope that many more of our classmates can attend the reunion than have signed on so far. COME ON, FOLKS! It would be great to see you all again.
When I look back on high school, it seems like I was a little kid. So much has happened since then for all of us. Despite our different lives, we have much in common: growing up in the new suburbs, Vietnam and the '70's, the rise of the Internet and the decline of the family, changing values in a rapidly changing world. Let's share memories and life journeys with one another.
My favorite teacher at Ramsey was Ted Molitor, and I started out as a chemistry major because of him, changing to mathematics as a junior. I met my wife at Hamline (Mary Beth Engebretson, a phy. ed. major and St. Paul Johnson graduate in '61). We have two children, Collin (38) and Lisa (31). Collin is married, Lisa is single, both live in the Twin Cities. BUT, we have no grandchildren yet (still hoping)!
I taught math for 2 years at Augsburg, then 5 years at North Hennepin CC before joining Unisys (Sperry Univac at the time) for nearly 30 years. I finished with another 4 years teaching, mostly at Normandale CC. I played racquetball for 35 years until my back wouldn't let me, and ran 5 marathons. We are very active in the only Sons of Norway lodge in St. Paul. (Mary Beth is all Norwegian, I'm all German, and the kids somehow can be rather stubborn sometimes!) We both like to read a lot, have become more liberal throughout our lives, but have not traveled as much as I would have hoped. We've been learning bridge for the last 30 years or so without making much progress, but we love games of nearly all kinds. We have lived in the same house in Shoreview for 41 years.
Retirement is great: every night is Friday night, and every day is Saturday! Seriously, where did all those chores come from, and why do they take so much longer than they used to?
Come on, folks, there are lots of you "also rans" like me. Come to the reunion! Let's get reacquainted and have a blast! You don't need to have a great life story, just the desire to catch up on old friends and classmates.
